Comments: My mom, Mila Baron was referred to Dr. Grabel for a consultation because she had been suffering from debilitating back pain due to intense nerve compression. She was reluctant to discuss surgery until no form of pain management provided above minimal relief. Still, my mom was very anxious because many people she met had terrible results after back surgery. My parents found out about Dr. Grabel and his team completely by accident. They are so thankful to the relative who referred them, sometimes saying it was a divine intervention. Dr. Grabel’s team was very professional and caring. The consultation went great. Dr. Grabel explained everything about my mom’s condition very thoroughly and discussed the procedure in great detail. Right away, the surgery-related anxiety completely diminished, and my mom felt she was in good hands with the best possible outcome to be expected. Once the surgery was scheduled, Dr. Grabel’s team stayed on top of all preparations. My mom was prescribed all the necessary medications and tests, given clear instructions, and was provided with the test results asap. On the day of the surgery, the intake process and surgery prep went very smoothly and quickly. My dad and I were told about the surgery process and when we could expect updates. We got phone calls with updates from my mom's nurse and Dr. Grabel. My mom’s case was especially difficult because two years ago she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. I'm sure many aspects of surgery and anesthesia were particularly complicated. The surgery went well. My mom had to stay longer at the hospital because of Parkinson’s, recovering from anesthesia. While she was there, all medical personnel were absolutely wonderful, very personable and caring. Doctors, nurses, and physical therapists considered and discussed with my mom the best approach to next steps. We saw Dr. Grabel again the very next morning. He talked to us about the surgery. He explained how my mom’s post-surgery milestones would happen and appointments with him, the progression of recovery, and the beginning of physical therapy. Once out of the hospital, my mom followed Dr. Grabel’s instructions and saw him for her milestone appointments. She had a wonderful visiting nurse service appointed by Dr. Grabel’s team and physical therapy professionals. She recently had her final appointment with Dr. Grabel and is very happy with the results. My parents are super thankful to Dr. Grabel and his team.
